2015/16 test results

Last year saw a significant change in how children were assessed at the end of both Key Stage 1 and 2. It was a challenging year for the children, their teachers and their families. Where it is possible to compare results with previous years (Early years and phonics screening) significantly improved outcomes were evident. All the children, staff and parents must be congratulated on their results in such changing circumstances.

Last summer, the Year 1 Phonics results saw 87% of our children achieve the national score or above, a rise of 30% on the previous year. Set out below are the pupil outcomes across the school, compared to National outcomes.

ANS means At National Standard. GLD means Good Level of Development.

Early Years Foundation Stage GLD  85%  69%
Key Stage 1   School National
Year 1 Phonics 87% 81%
Year 2 Phonics 80% 67%

KS1 - KS2 Progress

Progress measures are also new this year and assess how much progress a child has made between KS1 and KS2. A calculation has been completed nationally to generate a school’s subject score.

For St. Stephen’s these are:

Reading                                             1.1

Writing                                               1.6

Maths                                                 0.1

These scores demonstrate that the progress St. Stephen’s pupils made was in the top 40% nationally for reading and writing and in the top 60% for maths.
